I have recently contacted all of you with only a few exceptions. this thread will remedy that I hope.
Our plan to form an Ameri-Gamo-Daffelon is now under way.
We have enough interested parties, and (Amazingly) a night that is for the most part conflict-free for most of us. That night, as it stands right now is Thursday. We currently have no actual instruments, but we have some practice implements, and a couple people have Ideas for more practice implements, as well as Ideas on how to make the actual instraments we'll use. Since the Voice meeting Was moved to Wednesdays (and in part because it was moved) Thursdays are open, permitted we practice late. the suggested time that seems to work for the core respondants is 10PM til Midnight or later. With the number of people enthusiatic about this project, and the loud nature of the rehearsals at such a late hour (well, late for the Eloi at least) Where to practice will be an issue. We need a space large enough to hold everyone, where the cops won't get called on us! (this sort of ties into that "space" discussion....)
We won't get going this week, but Likly will next week. We want to be able to do this, and do it well if its to have the impact we want it to. Rehearsals are key. so to recap:
When:
every THURSDAY 10 PM until 12 AM (or later)
Where:
Unknown
Why:
Because the flower is hungry
Who:
Victor, Aaron, Krispin, Scott, Conrad, Alan, Austin, Mary May, Diana, Damon, Malik, Katie, Kendra, Aviva, and others who may be slipping my overworked mind at the moment....(some listed participants may not pan out)
How:
Any way we can!

Re: DaffeloN
Tue, March 16, 2004 - 3:37 AMThe bamboo could definitely make a great instrument, but I don't think it will be audible over a metal ensemble without some kind of electrics or something.
that could be cool though... -

Re: arrangement of instruments sought
Tue, March 16, 2004 - 10:42 AMwhen Diana and I were talking, the subject of bamboo was suggested for the purposes of Practice. with the wood blocks and the bamboo we could accomplish some rehearsals while we try to figure out where to get the real metal. plus it would give us a chance to experiment with lengths of "pipe", and provide us with a plan concerning what exactly we're lookinf for in the metal department -

Tue, March 16, 2004 - 5:41 PMI am a welcome guest in the bamboo damonish realm of grain and symbiotic micro termites.
I also know a bit about metal fabrication and pipes used in large scale electrical routing in skyscrapers/etc.
I always thought they could be used for something(the scraps).
Just wondering, how ,what sort of sounds you visualize in a gamelon contex with industrial debris?

Re: arrangement of instruments sought
Sat, March 20, 2004 - 11:07 AMI just made arrangments with a metal-working friend of mine who is an old Sattelite of our cult to swap some services. I will Illustrate and design Magnetic signage for his truck; which I'll get printed for him, and he'll help us find and cut Pipes for Gongs and Rayongs.
Its a done deal, we just have to hammer out the details. he's into the trade. Chris Moore is a good guy. some of you from the Bean days may remember him as a Diminuative Animation Student who wore a Firman's coat. At that time he lived down on Charles Allen. Now he's a Metal Worker with a wife, Forest; and new baby, Ferris.

Sun, March 28, 2004 - 1:41 AMWe still don't have an appropriate location for regular rehearsals. We should start getting together anyhow though. This week we could discuss all the things that need discussion; and figure a few things out. Where can we meet this Thursday at 10?
anybody? -
